Tokenomics

PIO's monetary policy is enforced by the protocol: a hard cap of 10,000,000 PIO, a vested 35% premine, and a 65% mining reserve released by a two-year halving.

Mainnet is not live. Figures marked specification describe the mainnet design implemented in the protocol code. Nothing in them has been distributed. Figures marked verified on-chain come from PIO Testnet, where coins are test tokens.

Supply rules

The mining module is the only post-genesis issuer. The SDK mint module is not part of PIO, and there is no administrator mint.

On mainnet, every block checks that total supply ≤ 10,000,000 PIO. Cumulative mining issuance can never exceed 6,500,000 PIO, and burned coins do not create room to mint again.

Mainnet genesis is rejected unless its mining parameters equal the frozen mainnet values. Governance has no message that can change them.

Premine buckets must be multisig accounts. Vesting follows the schedules below.

93.1% of the premine is locked at genesis. Vesting uses exact integer period schedules (Cosmos SDK periodic vesting accounts).

Era budgets are 16, 8, 4, 2 and 1 parts of 31, which sum to exactly 6,500,000 PIO. Daily budget within an era is constant. Unclaimed budget stays in the reserve and is released after year 10 at the era-5 rate (287.22 PIO/day), so the emission rate never increases.
