Mining

Miners compute Argon2id shares bound to their account. Every validator re-verifies each share on-chain, and rewards are paid per epoch in proportion to verified work, capped per account. Miners never produce blocks; validators do.

Testnet, accelerated schedule. 180-second epochs and a halving every 10 epochs, so the full five-era mainnet policy plays out in 2.5 hours. Rewards are tPIO with no monetary value. Mainnet parameters are fixed in the protocol and cannot be changed by testnet configuration.

Reward rules

An account is eligible in an epoch after accepted shares in at least 3 windows, and at least 3 shares in total.

The epoch budget is split in proportion to verified work, with at most 1 tPIO per account per epoch. That is a maximum, not a guaranteed payment.

Budget not paid out stays in the reserve and is released after the final era at the final era's rate. Nothing can exceed the reserve.

The ceiling is per account. It does not stop one operator from running many accounts, and PIO does not claim one account equals one person.
